Boston went 4-14, including being swept by the Giants in an eight-game series! ... From August 31 to September 24, the Braves played on 22 days -- and 15 of those days featured doubleheaders. ... They played a total of 32 doubleheaders that season.
Example
On July 5-7, 1915, the Red Sox swept three doubleheaders from the Washington Senators, giving Boston six wins in three days.
July 5 - 5-0 and 6-0
July 6 - 5-1 and 4-1
July 7 - 9-4 and 1-0
The 1915 Red Sox had a crazy three-week period, where 14 of their 15 games were played as part of doubleheaders: June 26, 28, 29 (only 1 game), 30, July 3, 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 17.

From June 26 to July 17, 20 of Boston's 26 games were part of doubleheaders..
Example
Six years later, the 1921 Red Sox endured the flip side of that accomplishment, losing four consecutive doubleheaders, with no single games in between.
June 29 at NYY - 5-8 and 3-5 (10)
July 2 at NYY - 3-5 and 1-5
July 4 vs WSH - 1-4 and 3-7
July 5 vs WSH - 5-7 and 1-4
And the Sox kept playing twinbills!
July 6 vs WSH - 2-1 and 0-1
After a single game on July 8, a 6-3 win in Detroit, it's two more doubleheaders!
July 11 at DET - 6-1 and 7-3
July 12 at CLE - 1-7 and 4-6
