I can almost always find the Yankee game on at night, even down here. Occasionally Philly or Cleveland too.
Last year a local AM station broadcast all the MFY games. I would listen some on my way home just to get updates. Those 2 would make me nauseous though.
This year they're doing a limited schedule.
Oh, very cool. I spent hours one night trying to see how many different stations I could pick up. That was when we had a huge antenna hooked up onto our roof. Now we have a metal roof. No antenna. :(
I've gotten spoiled since I got XM radio - I never have to scan the dial for baseball. I miss it though, in an odd way. There's something fun about seeing what you can find.
Satellite radio should come with a "switch to old school mode" button that lets you sift through screeching static.
We've done that on long drives on vacation, tuned in trying to find a game. L loves it!

She's home now, after 12 days in with IV antibiotics for a staff infection - MRSA.
All over that, but they had to remove her portacath since that's where the infection started. So she's off chemo for a while, until they feel comfortable putting another in.
Not necessarily a bad thing - she's been considering taking a break just to feel better for a while and hope for the best. Now the decision's made and she didn't have to make it.
We used to drive down I-95 from Portland during Sox games - there's an FM station in Portland but craps out about 20 miles south, and WEEI didn't come in very well, either. Neither did the local AM station.
The best station that came in, driving down through southern Maine, was 1080 WTIC.
2. Pittsburgh Pirates. KDKA. Can't remember the number. I'll never forget getting it in for the first time, and thinking it was some west coast station. But no, there is a station in an east coast that starts with a "K."
I had that same problem too. My first thought was man! This AM radio is REALLY good! This must be from Minneapolis or someplace! Pittsburgh? Oh. Well, that's cool too.
Phillies are on 1210 these days...
I was able to tune into a Cubs game on WGN, which was crazy. Here I am, about 10 miles from the coast, and it's 1:06 am here, and I hear, "WGN news time 12:06."

I used to drive poor Cathy crazy when we were traveling with our soap business. I would find some ball game or a really good college or NPR station playing some serious music and would just stay on it even when it got staticky (isthataword?. It would drift in and out and I'd be almost leaning over the dash saying, what happened?

Sosock, I know you are a reader of my blog--have you noticed me talking about my girlfriend's soap company? (Or did you comment and I forgot about it?) Either way, what about this "soap business"? (Unless you had some sort of soap opera company....)
We had a nice little business going for about 8 years - making all-natural olive oil soaps. Did a lot of the big art and craft shows, mostly up in your neck of the woods. People down here all wanted fluffy-pretty-fake smelly, which just wasn't us. We were no color - all essential oils. We did much better in the DC - Boston corridor. Did the New England Flower show in Boston several years. That's when I got to go in Fenway. Unfortunately the show always ended the week before opening day. I have yet to see a game there :(

we'll have to chat about this at your space some time. As ANY of my friends will tell you, I love to talk about our soaps and stuff. We made a lot of other products, one in particular actually outsold the soaps.
I really miss the business. It truly felt like we were doing something good then. But Cathy's health would not let us keep going as we were, and we weren't making enough to pay labor costs to make the products while I was out doing shows, even IF she was up to overseeing, so we sold it. Name, recipes, website, all of it. It paid for a long week in Disneyland for us and all 11 kids, spouses, and grandkids. Something we had never been able to do before.
