Keith Foulke Retires

Only one month after signing a one-year deal with Cleveland, Keith Foulke has decided to retire. He pitched 10 seasons years for the Giants, White Sox, A's and Red Sox.

Almost everyone on the roster helped in some way to the 2004 World Series championship, but few stood higher than Foulke. Back on December 8, I posted this:

Without his amazing bullpen work, that glorious October would have been yet another Yankee nightmare. In the process of bringing us what we wished for all our lives, he likely ruined his career:

Maybe this is a stupid question...will this effect the draft pick compensation the Red Sox received for Foulke?

This idea has been floated before, but it is not inconceivable that he literaly paid for the Red Sox' WS victory with his career...

You hear talk about players who leave it all on the field.

Foulke literally did that.

And then got shit on by the media (and a certain amount of lemming fans) for his Burger King comment.

That's why the whole 2004 team was better off retiring as a unit.

Foulke had IT........Even he only had it for a span of 48 hours he had IT...

I wish him luck

Jess, I heard on 'EEI's 'Dale and Holley' this morning that the Sox still get the draft pick. They checked with their research guy before confirming.

"Back to Foulke..."

I hope he enjoys his retirement. We owe him so much.

Well, I'm kinda glad Ortiz, Manny and a few others did not retire.

point being........they are always gods in our eyes but in the cynical eyes of the boston media they will always find something to write negatively about......

you would have thought they would have been untouchable......not the case.

P.S. when is Jack coming back?
